There is no dearth of fans of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Pakistan too. Because, he was the common hero of undivided India before independence. The people of both the countries sacrificed their lives to send the foreigners to Britain. But, at present, in the Punjab part of India, people have forgotten the path of Shaheed Bhagat. But, in Pakistan, advocate Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, President Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation (Pakistan) is still fighting for Shaheed Bhagat Singh. A square is continuing his struggle to not name Shadman Chowk of the provincial capital after Bhagat Singh. Indians also salute him for his noble efforts.
In fact, in Lahore High Court, advocate Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, President Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation (Pakistan) filed a petition in the court of Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza. While deciding on it, the court gave the last chance to the respondent to take action and adjourned further hearing till November 8, 2024.
Jamal Chief Secretary Punjab has been made a party. The petition states that High Court Justice Shahid Jameel Khan had issued instructions to the concerned authorities on September 5, 2018, that steps should be taken to name Shadman Chowk after Bhagat Singh. But till now the court orders have not been implemented.
Petitioner Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi told the court during the hearing that he visited the offices of the concerned officials several times to ensure the implementation of the court orders. The petitioner had to make several rounds. Shoes were broken, but no progress could be made in this regard, so the Supreme Court is requested to take strict cognizance of the matter.
