A woman could not bear the shock of her husband’s death, so she also committed suicide. The case is related to Raikot, Punjab. After attending the last prayer of her husband, 23-year-old Manpreet Kaur hanged herself from the fan in the room. Nine months ago, Manpreet Kaur had a love marriage with Sajan Preet Singh of Raikot. The marriage took place with the consent of both the families. 24-year-old Sajan Preet died of a heart attack on 9 July.
Manpreet had started to remain silent
Since the death of her husband, Manpreet had started to remain silent and had also stopped eating and drinking. Sukhwinder Singh told that on Wednesday, after attending the Paath and last prayer for the peace of the soul of son Sajan Preet Singh in Gurdwara Sahib of Raikot, his daughter-in-law Manpreet had gone to her maternal village Barmi. Manpreet did not open the door of the room till 10 am on Thursday. When the door was broken, Manpreet was found hanging from the fan in the room and she had stopped breathing.
The police took action under section 174 of CRPC on the statement of Manpreet’s mother and sent the body to Civil Hospital Ludhiana for postmortem.
