Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today demanded an immediate review and cancellation of the decision to acquire 24,311 acres of land in 32 villages of Ludhiana in the name of developing new urban estates.
Sukhbir Badal said the move was anti-farmer and aimed only at filling the coffers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In a statement here, the SAD president said, “It is shocking that the AAP government has passed a proposal to acquire 24,311 acres of land in the area around the city to develop urban estates, a scheme which has failed earlier in many other parts of the state.
It is even more reprehensible that the decision has been taken without consultation or consent of the farmers whose lands will be taken away from them. Thousands of farmers will become landless and it will irreversibly affect their way of life.” AAP government is raising money for its propaganda schemes
Sukhbir Badal said that all this is more than meets the eye. The AAP government is desperate to raise money for its propaganda schemes. Earlier also, the government had decided to acquire land near Mohali for the same purpose.
Now the farmers of Ludhiana are being sacrificed to fulfill the desire of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to fill the coffers of Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia so that he can remain in his chair. Badal said that the Akali Dal will not allow this injustice to continue. We will support the affected farmers as well as the farmers’ organizations to oppose this move and force the AAP government to withdraw this decision.
Asking Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that he should not try to sell Punjab. Badal said that farmland is being wasted without any need. It is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party has played the role of an unscrupulous property developer.
