Netherlands politician Geert Wilders condemned the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. He called it terrible and also called for an early end to the violence. In fact, student protests began in Bangladesh from mid-July against the reservation system for a certain class of people in government jobs.

Amidst the violence, two leaders of the Hindu community in Dhaka said that many temples, houses and shops of Hindus were vandalized. Women were attacked. Two Hindu leaders associated with the Awami League party died in the violence that broke out after Hasina fled the country.
