Senior Journalist.Batala (Gurdaspur).
Senior BJP leader Inder Sekhri said the Batala industry needs support for modernization and diversification. Which the present state government is not doing at all. He demanded that Batala being a border area, the Government of India should prepare an action plan regarding the industry based on the study of the expert committee. It is surprising that the policies announced by the government to support the MSME sector are not being implemented at all by the state government. It is noteworthy that there is no effective redressal platform to seek justice and ensure implementation of these policies. Due to the lax policies of the state government, small industries are dying day by day. On Sunday, senior leaders were having a special conversation with entrepreneurs associated with their industry.
Sekhri said that the Central Government has implemented many policies and rules for the industry. A lot of changes were made to revitalize the industry. But, regrettably, the state government completely failed to implement these policies. The condition of the industry in Punjab is very bad. Batala was once considered the stronghold of the industrial world. The sound of its goods continued to be heard all over the world. In the 90s, 2 thousand Par units used to run in Batala. But, due to the wrong policies of the government, now around 500 units are left.
To stop migration, there is a strong need to give special fiscal packages to new and existing industries considering border districts as priority areas. The BJP leader also placed these issues prominently before senior central leader Vasundhara Raje Scindia. It was promised to put these issues before the Prime Minister of the country.
