In village Jangpur of Thana Dakha in Punjab, migrant labourer Tejpal murdered his wife Renu Kumari (26). After committing the crime, the accused fled with his two children. Dakha police formed several teams and raided nearby bus stands and railway stations but could not find any clue of Tejpal and his children.
Tejpal originally hails from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. Dakha police has sent the body to Ludhiana Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Injury marks have been found on Renu’s mouth and other places.
According to the information, Renu Kumari lived with her two children in the farmer’s motor house in front of the sheller located on the Mullanpur Jangpur link road with her maternal family. Tejpal used to work as a labourer in Moradabad, UP. Tejpal used to come to meet his wife and children once in a month or two. About 15 days ago, Renu ran away with a worker working in a sheller.
Both of them started living in hiding near the Gaushala in Mullanpur. According to sources, Renu had run away with her lover four times. Tejpal forgave her every time but 15 days ago, Renu again ran away with her lover. Tejpal came from Moradabad and along with Renu’s parents, found her. Renu returned but this time Tejpal killed her.
Renu Kumari’s father Chandradi Paswan and mother Sheela Devi said that they have been working as labourers in Mullanpur for 20 years. Their son-in-law Tejpal always doubted the character of their daughter Renu Kumari, due to which he always used to beat her. Due to this, Renu started living with them.
On Sunday night, Tejpal went to sleep with his wife and children in the residential room built on the motor right next to their slum. The family did not suspect anything. On Monday morning, when they saw the motor room locked from outside, they became suspicious. They called out to Renu but there was no response from inside.
When they broke the lock and looked inside, they were shocked. Renu’s body was lying on the ground and there were teeth marks on her mouth. There were injuries on other parts of the body as well. Chandradi Paswan and Sheela Devi said that after the murder, Tejpal fled with his son Sunny and daughter Sandhya. They informed the police about the incident.
Police station in-charge Inspector Amritpal Singh said that the case is being investigated thoroughly. Accused Tejpal will be caught soon. According to sources, Dakha police has taken Renu Kumari’s lover into custody and started questioning him.
