Three members of a family committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Ludhiana, Punjab. The incident took place on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, the bodies of three members of a family were found on the railway track near Kila Raipur in Ludhiana. These include a husband-wife and their nine-year-old son. This family was from Ludhiana village Ghungrana. The deceased were identified as Sukhpal Singh (32), his wife Sukhdeep Kaur (30) and son Baljot Singh (9).
Government Railway Police (GRP) SHO Jatinder Singh and Mandi Ahmedgarh outpost in-charge Gurmel Singh said that the deceased Sukhpal Singh, a resident of Ghungrana, used to install escalators. He was struggling with financial crisis for some time. Due to this, Sukhpal Singh committed suicide along with his family.
Sukhpal’s father Darshan Singh told GRP that his son was in debt. The people from whom he had borrowed money were asking him to return the money. Sukhpal was very upset with this. Sukhpal used to leave home in the morning to avoid the people who owed him money and would return home late at night.
Darshan Singh said that his son Sukhpal had left home with his wife Sukhdeep and son Baljot on Wednesday late evening without telling anyone. All three committed suicide by jumping in front of a train near Kila Raipur. He came to know about the incident on Thursday morning.
Mandi Ahmedgarh’s chowki in-charge Gurmel Singh said that all three ended their lives by jumping in front of the Amritsar-Hisar Express. The police have taken all three bodies in their custody and kept them in the hospital for post-mortem.
