The nephew of Congress MLA from Shahkot constituency Ladi Sherowalia has died in a road accident in Canada. He had gone for a ride with his friend and fell into a 300 feet deep gorge. The deceased has been identified as Jasmer Singh, resident of Sahla Nagar Malsian Shahkot. Jasmer Singh’s father, senior Congress leader Ajmer Singh Khalsa has a good hold in Shahkot and surrounding areas. After Jasmer’s death, Shahkot MLA and District Congress Committee President Hardev Singh alias Ladi Sherowalia and Ajmer Singh’s family are in shock.
Sugar Mill Nakodar Chairman Ashvinder Singh and the deceased’s brother Santokh Singh Khaira said that Jasmer Singh had gone to the mountains for ATV riding with his other friend Amandeep Singh Kahlon, resident of Amritsar. When they were returning after the ride, the bike lost balance and both of them fell into a 300 feet deep gorge. Both the youths were taken to the hospital by air ambulance, where doctors declared Jasmer Singh dead and started treatment of seriously injured Amandeep Singh.
Family members said that Jasmer Singh’s wife and children had come to India and were at the Delhi airport to return to Canada when they got the news of his death. Preparations are being made to bring Jasmer’s body to India soon. After which his last rites will be performed in India in his native village Sahla Nagar Malasian Shahkot according to Sikh customs.
