The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against an accused in the Amritsar police post grenade attack case. The accused, Bagga Singh alias Rinku, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana, has been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Indian Justice Code and Explosive Substances Act for conspiring and carrying out the grenade attack.

According to the NIA investigation, Bagga, along with accused Mandeep Singh, had hurled the bomb at the Gumtala police post in Amritsar district in January this year. Bagga was recruited for the crime by US-based drugs, arms and explosives smuggler Sarwan Singh alias Bhola, who is an associate of terrorist Happy Pasia.

Pasia of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror outfit had claimed responsibility for the grenade attack through a social media post. On the instructions of Pasia, Sarwan had supplied grenades to Bagga Singh alias Rinku, as revealed in the NIA probe, which took over the probe in the case in April.

Sarwan Bhola was in touch with the India-based accused through encrypted messaging applications. He had also provided terror funding to the accused in India. Investigation revealed that Sarwan Bhola is a wanted accused in another NIA case, while Mandeep Singh, who is still absconding, is the real brother of Sarwan Bhola.
