Batala police has arrested three accused in firing case on an immigration and IELTS centre in Batala, Punjab. The accused had committed the crime about two weeks ago and fled. Police arrested the three youths on Sunday. All three accused are students of an IELTS centre from Amritsar and two of them are from Tarn Taran and one from Amritsar. All three accused are Plus Two pass and are just 22-23 years old. Police also recovered an illegal pistol and two vehicles from the three on Sunday.
Police investigation has revealed that the three had fired on the immigration centre in Batala at the behest of a friend of theirs, lured by ten thousand rupees. The friend had told the attackers that he had a personal rivalry with the immigration centre in Batala, due to which they would have to fire on the centre. A Skoda, Swift car and the pistol used in the crime have been recovered from the accused.
The incident took place on July 8. Late in the evening, a youth fired bullets at the door of the immigration centre located on Jalandhar Road. However, there was no loss of life in this incident. The footage of the accused firing was captured in the CCTV camera. In this regard, a case was registered against unknown people in Police Station City on July 8 itself.
SSP Batala Ashwani Gotiyal said that on July 8, some unknown youths fired bullets at the door of an immigration centre on Jalandhar Road. The police started their investigation from the same day. Meanwhile, the police have arrested three accused during their investigation. The arrested accused have been identified as Mehakdeep Singh and Jagdish Singh of village Harike district Tarn Taran and Paras resident of Amritsar. At present, none of the three has any criminal background.
