The NIA has taken action against four accused in the 2021 bomb blast case in the court premises in Ludhiana, Punjab. The NIA has seized the property of all four accused. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that the person who detonated the IED in the blast on 23 December 2021 died.
The deceased was named Gagandeep Singh and 6 others were injured in the incident. After investigating the case, acting on the orders of the NIA Special Court in Mohali, the agency has seized 15 Kanal 19 Marla land of accused Surmukh, village Kotli Kheda, 27 Kanal 16 Marla land of accused Dilbagh Singh Baggo, village Chakk Allah Baksh, 27 Kanal 16 Marla land of accused Harpreet Singh Happy Malaysia, village Mandi Khurd, 15 Marla land of village Bakkha Hari Singh and 15 Kanal 18 Marla land of Rajanpreet Singh, village Kolowal Amritsar.
NIA investigation had revealed that the blast was carried out at the behest of Lakhbir Singh Rode, head of Pakistan-based International Youth Federation (ISYF).
Sandeep Kaur (31 years) of Rajkot village in Ludhiana and Sharanjit Kaur (25 years) of Jamalpur, injured in the blast, were admitted to the Civil Hospital. Manish Kumar (32 years), a resident of Police Colony, was admitted to CMC Ludhiana. Kuldeep Singh Mand (50 years) and Krishan Khanna (75 years) are being treated at DMC Ludhiana. Apart from this, another man is injured.
The blast took place in the bathroom on the third floor of Ludhiana Court Complex. Due to this, two walls of the bathroom collapsed and the floor broke and fell on the second floor. After the blast, a mutilated body was found on the spot. It was suspected that this body was of the person who was fitting the bomb. His face and legs were blown to pieces in this blast. The forensic team collected the torso, legs and head.
At that time, in the initial investigation itself, it was revealed that the person whose dead body was found in the bathroom had explosives. He was probably fitting the bomb through IED and at that time the blast occurred.
