On Monday morning around 7 am, there was silence on the roads of Punjab, but the markets and liquor shops were open as usual. Seeing this, the hopes of the farmers were dashed once again. But, their different teams reached to shut them down. There was also a scene of debate between the general public and the farmers. But, the police intervened and averted the situation of conflict beforehand. According to the report, the bandh of the farmers’ movement did not get much support in many cities. There all the business establishments opened like normal days. The general public also started moving around on the roads. Only the wheels of rail and bus transport stopped today.
The traders of district Gurdaspur fully supported the farmers’ bandh. Apart from keeping their business establishments closed, they reached the protest site of the farmers and supported them. The time of the bandh was fixed from 7 am to evening. In such a situation, the farmers are assuming that their protest will now force the central government to shake once again. But, it will not be so easy, because, the central government is not ready to accept all their conditions. The health condition of farmer leader Dallewal is not good. Doctors are asking him to admit him to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. Whereas, the leader has decided to sit on fast unto death until the conditions are met.
For the movement, the leaders and officials of the farmer organization came out on the streets from Monday morning itself. They did not use any kind of loving language to stop the movement. Some pictures are coming out in which farmers are clearly seen getting into a tussle with the general public. The picture of Bathinda has increased the concern of the general public. It is seen in the picture how a passerby is asking the farmers to go on foot, but, the farmer leader and the officials get into a tussle with him. Not only this, he is used abusive language and even abuses. Then the police comes in between and resolves the matter. This matter is spreading very fast on social media. Because, people believe that the farmers who argue cannot be of the image, rather, seeing their attitude, it seems that these people are associated with some mischievous element. On the other hand, no statement has come from any farmer organization regarding this matter yet.
The effect of the bandh was not seen much even in the biggest cities of Punjab, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar. Because, the traders here had already decided that they are not in support of the farmers’ bandh. On top of that, the condition of business has become so bad that it is very difficult to even run the household. Now it is the job of these people to get Punjab closed every second or third day. There are many other issues in Punjab, why do these people not speak on them. They are getting facilities from the government. Whereas, traders have to pay tax with interest on everything. Not only this, liquor shops started opening at 5 in the morning. A large number of people were seen there to buy liquor. When the liquor contractors were talked to, they said that they did not receive any order from above to close it, so it would be better to open it.
The state government is having fun
It is believed that this issue is the best option for the government to do politics, so they are agreeing to everything in support of the farmers. The state government knows that fulfilling their demands is not an easy task. It is being said that the government itself is adding fuel to the fire in the farmers’ movement. It does not want any solution to this farmers’ movement. These things are pointing towards the fact that the government is having a lot of fun in this.
The court is worried
The Supreme Court of the country has always understood the sentiments of the farmers, so it listened to the farmers’ appeal with full attention and also formed a committee. The committee included those officials and people from Punjab, Haryana and the Center who understand the sentiments of the farmers. When he listened to all the farmers’ statements carefully, the report revealed that the state government is adding fuel to the fire. It does not want any solution to the issue. On top of that, it is taking the health condition of farmer leader Dallewal very lightly. The court reprimanded the government and also warned it to find a solution to the problem before further orders.
The state’s police remained alert
