Punjab Police has achieved a great success. A very big consignment of drugs was recovered. According to the international market, the drug is said to be worth around 20 crores (3.5 kg). Initial investigation revealed that the smuggler caught has links with Pakistani smugglers. He has been working for some time. The case is related to the border area of Firozpur district of Punjab (India-Pakistan). This action is being said to be of State Special Operation Cell (SSOC). On Tuesday, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) came to know that a smuggler was importing heroin from Pakistan near the Indo-Pak border in Ferozepur. The team kept a close watch on him. When the smuggler recovered the consignment, the team caught him red-handed. On searching, three and a half kilograms of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Investigation has revealed that this consignment was to be sent to other parts of the country. The team is investigating this in detail to find out who all are in contact with the smuggler. Initial investigation has revealed that the smuggler is an agriculturist. His land is near the Indo-Pak border. From here, he developed relations with smugglers across the border. He has been involved in smuggling for the last few months. It has not been confirmed that any criminal case has been registered against him in the past.
