Woman commits suicide after firing at her boyfriend
Following a horrific incident in Harcharan Nagar on Shingar Cinema Road in Ludhiana on Monday midnight, a 23-year-old woman took her own life by consuming poison. The woman committed suicide after firing at her boyfriend. It is alleged that the girl’s family members had the young man shot.
Accused dies in police custody
Raj Singh alias Raju, the shooter accused in the Gurdwara Manji Sahib shooting incident, died in police custody. Raju, a resident of Noorpur Machhiwara village in Ferozepur, was arrested by the Ludhiana Rural Police. After complaining of low blood pressure on Monday night, he was initially taken to a government and private hospital for treatment. When his condition worsened, he was referred to Global Heart Hospital in Ludhiana, where he died. The police are citing low blood pressure as the cause of death, but the circumstances surrounding his deterioration in custody have raised several questions.
ASI arrested for accepting a bribe of 25,000 rupees
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested ASI Tarsem Lal, posted in Didba, red-handed while accepting a bribe of 25,000 rupees. A spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau stated that the accused ASI was arrested based on a complaint from a resident of Anaj Mandi Bhawanigarh. The complainant had alleged that ASI Tarsem Lal had demanded a bribe of 30,000 rupees in exchange for arresting him in another case. The conversation regarding the bribery was also recorded.
DA Increase for Employees in Chandigarh
The Chandigarh administration has provided a major relief to government employees by increasing their dearness allowance (DA) by three percent. Employees will now receive 63 percent of their basic salary, compared to 60 percent previously. The Finance Department issued an official order in this regard on November 3. The increased dearness allowance will be effective from July 1, 2026.
Fake Desi Ghee Seized in Fatehgarh Sahib
The Food Safety Department and Khamano police busted a fake ghee manufacturing factory operating in a rented house on Bilaspur Road on Sunday night. The team recovered 2 quintals (86 kg) of prepared fake ghee from the spot.
