The Congress party has announced its new working committee (CWC). Former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi has been inducted as a member of the Congress High Command (CWC). At the same time, former MP Ambika Soni and MP Manish Tiwari have also been given a place in the released list. But former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu was not given a place in the CWC.
Earlier, Sidhu was also not given a place in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC). Navjot Sidhu was the head of the state Congress during the February 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, but demanded his resignation from the Congress high command after the crushing defeat in the elections. After that Gidderbaha MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Warding was made the new President of Punjab Pradesh Congress. Since then speculations were rife that only the Congress high command could give Sidhu a place in the center leadership.
However, Sidhu was not given a place in the list of new Working Committee (CWC) members of the party released by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday. Sidhu has been calling himself close to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, but it has become clear from the new list of CWC that the high command is showing more faith in Channi than him in Punjab.
