The Indian government has approved replacing the traditional fencing on the border with smart fencing to curb smuggling and infiltration from the Pakistan border. The work of installing this fencing on the border in Amritsar has also started.
According to the information, before the fencing that is currently installed, a four-foot concrete wall will be built under the new fencing. Iron angles will be installed on this wall and instead of barbed wires, iron strips will be installed in them, which will be impossible to cut and pass through.
It is worth noting that to stop the drug spread on the Punjab border belt, the Governor had asked the people about the solution during his visit. People had said that such fencing should be installed, through which pipes can be inserted to curb the smuggling of heroin and other types of drugs. Taking cognizance of such suggestions, the central government has decided to install smart fencing. India shares a 3310 km border with Pakistan, out of which 547 km is the border of Punjab. Right now the government has started the smart fencing campaign from Punjab itself.
According to the information, along with the arrangement of HD CCTV cameras on the smart fencing, anti-drone sensors will also be installed so that it can help in preventing infiltration and smuggling of weapons through drones. Along with this, arrangements will also be made to run current on the smart fencing at night. Along with this, this fencing will be three to four feet higher than the fencing installed now so that smugglers from Pakistan cannot throw packets of heroin.
