The Punjab-Haryana High Court reprimanded the SIT chief for filing a cancellation report in the FIR registered regarding Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview in police custody at the CIA police station in Kharar. The High Court said that why were you in such a hurry to file a cancellation report, now on the next hearing, the matter of handing over the investigation of the case to the central agency will be considered.
Earlier on Tuesday, during the hearing of the case, the SIT had submitted the investigation report regarding Lawrence’s interview. Along with this, information was also given about the negligence and negligence of the officers. The court was told that the final report of the investigation has been submitted to the court. The High Court patted the back of the SIT on the investigation and adjourned the hearing till October 28.
At the same time, on Wednesday, the court came to know that the SIT has filed a cancellation report in the lower court on October 9 in this case. In such a situation, with the consent of all the parties, it was decided to hear the case on Wednesday itself. When the hearing started at around 12:30, the High Court reprimanded the SIT chief and asked why the High Court was not informed on Tuesday that the cancellation report had been filed. After raising questions on the role of officials in this case, why was the cancellation report filed in the court in such a hurry and why was the High Court not informed on the last hearing.
The High Court has now ordered the SIT to submit the investigation report to the advocate assisting the court along with Haryana, Punjab and the Central Government. The High Court will decide on handing over the case to the central investigation agency on the next hearing. At the same time, the hearing of the case in the lower court has also been stayed.
