The war between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Governor Banwarilal Purohit, which has been going on for the last one year, is showing no signs of ending. Governor Purohit once made it clear that if Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann did not stop using derogatory words against him and tarnishing his image, he would get an FIR lodged against Chief Minister Mann. On Saturday, the Governor looked very angry on this issue.

He said in an interview to a channel that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tried to tarnish his image during the assembly session called in June. The Governor said that the Chief Minister used derogatory language for him in the Assembly, saying – letter likhta raha hai… vehla hai (He keeps writing letters… Nithalla hai).

The Governor said that if the Chief Minister had made such allegations outside the House, he would have filed a criminal complaint against him by now, as the Chief Minister enjoys legal protection in the House. He said that the governor cannot be defamed.

The governor said that if such remarks are made against me outside the House, a case will be registered against them under section 124 of the IPC. Purohit also said that Chief Minister Mann could also be prosecuted for trying to put pressure on the governor or intimidate him. Purohit said that the Chief Minister has to take care of his language and cannot abuse without any reason. The governor has many powers.
