Counter intelligence has arrested four smugglers who brought consignments of heroin and weapons from Pakistan under the guise of floods on the border. 77.800 kg heroin, three pistols, six magazines and 115 cartridges have been recovered from them. The value of the seized heroin has been estimated at Rs 389 crore. According to the police, this is the biggest heroin consignment recovered in 2023.
Police Station Counter Intelligence has registered a case against the said four smugglers on Sunday and started further investigation. AIG of Counter Intelligence Lakhbir Singh says that more is likely to be found in the interrogation of the accused. They have links with Pakistan smugglers.
During the special operation on secret information, smuggler Ganga Gill alias Kali resident of Seemant village Barke district Ferozepur and Veer Singh alias Veeru resident of Muhar Sona district Fazilka were arrested from near Fort Wala Chowk. They were going to supply heroin by riding a bike.
During the search, 39 packets of heroin were found in his bag. The weight of heroin was 41.800 kg, 2 pistols 9 mm, 4 magazines, 100 cartridges, one pistol .30 bore and 2 magazines and 15 cartridges have been found. A case has been registered against both the said smugglers in Counter Intelligence Police Station Fazilka.
36 kg of heroin from them
The AIG said that similarly his team arrested two more smugglers and recovered 36 kg of heroin from them. The apprehended accused have been identified as Jasbhinder Singh alias Binda and Jagdeep Singh, residents of village Deep Singh Wala, district Faridkot. They were going to supply someone with heroin in a plastic bag while riding a bike.
