Trains are being stopped for 3 hours today in support of the ongoing farmer movement at Shambhu Border and Khanauri Border in Punjab. Farmers will protest till 3 pm at 48 places. At many places, women are also standing on the track with flags along with the farmers.
Due to the jam of railway track, Delhi-Pathankot Express has been stopped at Dhandhari Kalan in Ludhiana. Most of the protests are being held in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur. The Rail Roko movement was announced by farmer leader Sarwan Pandher on 14 December.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called an emergency meeting today regarding the hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal going on at Khanauri border. This meeting will be held shortly at Kisan Bhawan in Chandigarh. There may be an announcement of supporting Dallewal’s struggle in this.
After this, there is a program to meet the Governor at 7 pm. Earlier this meeting was scheduled for December 24, but in view of the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal, the meeting time has been changed.
