On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday reached the War Memorial in Sector 3, Chandigarh and paid tribute to the martyrs. The program was organized by the Directorate of Defense Services Welfare, Punjab.

The CM, who arrived as the chief guest, first paid floral tribute at the war memorial and remembered the Kargil martyrs. On this occasion, some former officers and soldiers who had participated in the Kargil war were also present. The Chief Minister met all these former soldiers and honored them for their role in the Kargil war by giving them medals and letters of appreciation.

Brigadier Bhupendra Singh Dhillon, Director, Defense Services Welfare, Punjab, who was present with the Chief Minister, gave information to the CM about the former soldiers who had participated in the Kargil war present there. On this, the Chief Minister said that this country can never repay the debt of the martyrs. The stories of the valor of the brave are inspirational for the younger generation. The CM also met former Army Chief VP Malik and Girdhari Lal Batra, father of martyr Captain Vikram Batra.

After this, the Chief Minister recorded his feelings for the martyrs in a register present there. The Chief Minister felt proud to meet the ex-servicemen. While talking to the ex-servicemen, he also saluted them. On this occasion, the patriotic tunes of the Punjab Police band kept the atmosphere filled with patriotism.
