Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and said that he (Bhagwant Mann) did not like me becoming the Chancellor. That is why I resigned. I do not want votes from anyone, I am working here selflessly. People from AAP, BJP and Congress also come with their problems. I listen to everyone. It is my responsibility to get the work done which was not done in Punjab. I am the Chancellor of all the universities of Punjab. CM Sahib did not like this, because I did not work on anyone’s recommendation.

Banwari Lal Purohit was on a tour of the border area for 3 days. After the tour was over, he was talking to the media in Chandigarh on Friday. Purohit said that there are 10 universities in Punjab where there is no regular Vice Chancellor.

UGC guidelines are that if a Vice Chancellor is to be appointed in the university, then a search committee should be formed. I work on merit. After the whole process was completed, people were called for interview, from which selection was done.

Purohit said- Strict orders were given to central agencies and police

Banwari Lal Purohit said- We will give Rs 3 lakh to the village in Punjab where drug addiction will end. This money will be given from the Governor’s fund. When I go to the border area, I hold meetings and meet the villagers. I went to a village, many women had also come there. In such a situation, the motivation of the people will increase that even women are coming forward.

The Governor said- If there is any work in my hands, I definitely do it

Purohit further said that people had told us to install CCTVs, we got cameras installed as per the opinion of the people. After coming to Punjab, I have told many times that I have contested elections about 8 times and have won elections 5 times. The result of my victory is 60 percent. The winning percentage is high. Even in defeat, there has been a variation of 2-3 percent.
