PUNJAB……….Minister ji, power is out for the last 8 hours……….no one is taking any notice.

Senior Journalist, Amritsar/CHANDIGARH.

There is no solution to the power supply in the whole of Punjab. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government came to power by claiming to give free electricity (600 units for 2 months) to the people of Punjab. But, now this free electricity is torturing the people somewhere. In 24 hours, the electricity consumers are getting electricity supply only for half the time. Somewhere the inconvenience of power failure or power cut has become a headache for the people. The matter is related to Batala Road area of Amritsar district of Punjab.

The power has been out since 4 am on Wednesday, but it has not been fixed yet. In anger, people told the Power Minister of Punjab that we do not want such absolutely free electricity, we were better off earlier, when we used to get full supply of electricity by paying the bill. On the other hand, an official of the department said that the power cable box has been damaged due to late night rain. It is being repaired.

At this time, electricity has become the biggest issue for the people of Punjab. Electricity supply is not reaching the people completely in the state. Daily power cuts or power failure has become a common thing. This problem is happening when AAP’s power minister is publicly stating among the public that Punjab has come first in providing power supply. On the other hand, the opposition is calling this claim of AAP false. According to them, people are being fooled completely. The condition of electricity in Punjab is bad. Bhagwant Mann and his minister should resign immediately. At least they should not lie to the public. A roadmap has been prepared to raise this issue in the House.

Batala Road area most affected in power cuts and bad power

From the investigation and complaints of the people so far, it is coming to light that Batala Road of Amritsar area of Punjab is considered to be the first affected area in power cuts and bad power. There is an outcry among the people. It becomes very difficult for people to live without electricity, whereas, the officers and employees of the department always take the complaint lightly. Such allegations were made by the electricity consumers. According to them, their complaints are always ignored. Complaints are made many times but no action is taken on them at all. He questioned the power minister and said, was this what you had promised to the people of Punjab. You had promised to provide uninterrupted electricity to the people, where is it now, why is it not being fulfilled, is it so that the people of Punjab voted for you and brought you to power so that later you can go back on this promise.

These 2 electricity transformers, a problem for the people

For the last few years, 2 electricity transformers in Pawan Nagar area of Amritsar have become a problem for the people. It has come to light that some corrupt officers and employees of the electricity department are giving supply to the people of illegal colonies by taking bribe. Investigation revealed that this colony is completely illegal. Many times the corporation had used its JCB when irregularities were found in it. It was found that some corrupt government officials and employees have played an important role in passing the map of this colony and providing electricity supply. Explosions in electricity transformers are a common occurrence among them. There is a great danger to the residential building nearby, but the bribe holders are not at all concerned about solving this.

Some unanswered questions

The rain ended at 9 pm on Tuesday night. So why did the electricity box get damaged in the early morning? Did the electricity employees wait till it gets completely damaged and remain silent spectators? Or was this problem deliberately taken lightly? An investigation is required against all the officers and employees who were on night duty. If an investigation is done, the truth will also come out.

Electricity will come now, this is the main reason

JE Vishal Kumar of PSPCL said that rainwater entered the important cable box of Batala Road late at night. Electricity supply to many areas is done from here. We are trying to fix it since morning. It will be fixed soon. Electricity supply will be started.
