The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Punjab for 5 days from Wednesday. Under this, there may be light to moderate rains in most parts of the state on Thursday, but after this there will be heavy rains with strong thunder and lightning in most of the districts for the next four days i.e. from August 3 to 6.
During this, a decrease of two to three degrees in temperature can be recorded. On the other hand, only Ludhiana received 64.0 mm of rain and Ropar received 3.0 mm of rain on Tuesday. The weather remained dry in rest of the districts of Punjab. Due to this, an increase of 1.1 degree in temperature was recorded. The highest temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Samrala. It was 1.8 degrees above normal.

Amritsar’s temperature in major cities of Punjab is 36.1 degree Celsius, Ludhiana 33.7 degree, Patiala 36.8 degree, Bathinda 36.6 degree, Faridkot 37.5, Gurdaspur 35.8, SBS Nagar 34.9, Barnala 36.8 degree, Fatehgarh Sahib 36.4 degree , Muktsar recorded 36.7 and Ropar recorded 35.5 degree Celsius. Punjab recorded a rise of 0.9 degrees in the minimum temperature, though it remained near normal. The lowest temperature of 25.9 degrees was in Balachaur.
