The police has taken major action against drug smuggling and recovered 4.5 kg heroin in 2 important operations. Along with heroin, the police has also been successful in arresting 7 smugglers. The police took this entire action on the basis of secret information. After the raid, the accused arrested informed that this entire network is connected with the international drug syndicate.
The police had received secret information that some people are planning to supply a consignment of drugs. On this basis, police teams raided different places and caught the accused red-handed. Investigation has revealed that these smugglers are connected to the international drug syndicate and their wires extend to many other states and countries.
During interrogation, the police also came to know that the arrested smugglers are connected to Gurdeep alias Rano, who is a major operator of this syndicate. Gurdeep has already been detained under the PIT NDPS Act. The police is now conducting further investigation to reach other members of this network and its roots, so that the entire drug syndicate can be exposed.
In the coming days, the Punjab government is going to further intensify the campaign launched against drugs. In the budget of the year 2015-26, important steps have also been taken to strengthen the Punjab Police against drugs. Anti-drone systems are being purchased at a cost of Rs 110 crore. Not only this, Rs 150 crore has been reserved to count drug addicts across the country. After being selected, the Punjab government will also take steps for the rehabilitation of all drug addicts.
