Pakistan has put up a big picture of All Party Hurriyat Conference separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at the Wagah border. Syed Ali Shah Geelani died in 2021. Pakistan has put up his picture at the Wagah border at a time when assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir.
All India Hindu Mahasabha leader Rajwinder Raja has opposed Pakistan’s display of his picture on the international border. He said that it is not right to put up Geelani’s picture in any way. At present, anti-government protests are going on at many places in Pakistan. In such a situation, the Pakistan government wants to divert the attention of its people by putting up Geelani’s photo on the border.
Syed Ali Shah Geelani died three years ago at the age of 92. Geelani encouraged terrorism in Kashmir. The then Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, also blamed Geelani for terrorism and bloodshed in Kashmir.
