Intelligence agencies have come into action after the name of a top police officer including a CMI from Amritsar was discussed in the case of sending a consignment of liquor from Jalandhar to Bihar in the pantry car of Jallianwala Bagh Express. The agencies are finding out when the racket of sending liquor from Punjab to Bihar in trains is going on and which railway officials and employees are involved in it.
The ticket checkers claim that the escort party of GRP Bihar for checking the train had caught the two accused by setting a trap at Dhanbad station after catching liquor boxes from the pantry car. Both the arrested accused were government employees. These accused had named a top police officer of Bihar, after which the GRP got rid of the case by dropping the accused at Kumardubi station along with boxes of liquor.
According to ticket checkers, she was traveling from Amritsar to Sealdah on Jallianwala Bagh Express (12380) on August 4. At Jalandhar City Station, someone took the name of a CMI and placed two boxes of apples in the pantry of the train. Calling himself a ticket checker of Amritsar, he asked to drop the boxes at Dhanbad station. He said that someone familiar with CMI would take the boxes to Dhanbad station.
On the morning of August 5, the escort party of GRP Bihar checked the train between Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Gaya junction as soon as it entered the border of Bihar, then 2 boxes of liquor were recovered from the pantry car. In the inquiry of the GRP, the Pantry staff said that the Chief Inspector Ticket (CIT) of the train had allowed the boxes to be kept in the coach, while he was completely unaware of the fact that the boxes were containing liquor.
According to the ticket checkers, as soon as the train stopped at Dhanbad station, four youths boarded the train to unload the boxes. The GRP had caught two youths and made them sit in the train, but as soon as the truth came out in the interrogation, the accused were released at the next station. The said accused was an employee of Bihar Corporation and had come to unload boxes of liquor at the behest of a top police officer posted in Bihar. As soon as they came to know about this, the GRP suppressed the case by removing the accused from the train near Kumardubi station without taking any action along with the boxes of liquor.
