The court has sentenced a woman sub-inspector (SI) of Punjab Police to 10 years imprisonment. The Amritsar District Court has pronounced the verdict declaring the woman guilty.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Parinder Singh has sentenced Sub Inspector Sandeep Kaur of Amritsar Rural Police to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000. If the fine amount is not deposited, the convict will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of 3 months. The court has remarked that Sub Inspector Sandeep Kaur’s job was to prevent crime while she herself got involved in criminal activities.

On October 10, 2020, the police of Mohkampura police station had registered a case against Sub Inspector Sandeep Kaur posted in Amritsar Rural District for inciting a person to commit suicide. Investigation revealed that Vikramjit Singh, a resident of village Navan Pind under Jandiala Guru police station, had an alleged love affair with SI Sandeep Kaur. Vikramjit was a commission agent by profession. Both of them used to meet each other, but a few days before the incident, Sandeep Kaur was blackmailing Vikramjit. She was also instigating him to murder one of his other companions.
