Amritsar’s famous snake catcher Ashok Joshi was bitten by a cobra when he was going to release the snake caught from Ashiana Enclave on Fatehgarh Churian Road into the forest. As soon as he freed the snake, the cobra bit his hand. After getting injured, Ashok Joshi was immediately taken to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, but he did not get treatment there for about half an hour. The hospital staff refused to provide timely treatment, due to which his condition started deteriorating.
During this, Ashok Joshi made a video of himself and shared it on social media and appealed for help. In the video, he exposed the negligence of the hospital. As soon as the video went viral, many aware citizens and VIPs of the city raised their voice on social media. After this, the team of doctors came into action and he could get treatment. The incident has raised questions on the insensitivity of government hospitals.
Today, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla himself reached Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and met Ashok Joshi. MP Aujla said- It is very shocking that a responsible citizen, who protects people by risking his life, did not get timely treatment. This insensitivity of the hospital staff will not be tolerated. I have issued a strict warning on this. There is a need for improvement from top to bottom. No citizen should face such inhumanity in government hospitals.
It is worth noting that Ashok Joshi is known as a snake catcher in Amritsar area and has saved the lives of hundreds of people from snakes so far.
