Police arrested 2 persons including ex-soldier of the country with opium worth lakhs. 20 thousand Indian currency and 1 car were also recovered from their possession. The alleged criminals caught were identified as ex-soldier Malvinder Singh, Manjinder Singh, both residents of Shri Hargobindpura, Guru ki Vadali, Cheharta. A case was registered under various sections in Cheharta police station. Initial investigation revealed that they used to bring opium from Madhya Pradesh. Further it was sold at a high price. No previous criminal record was found. Both have studied upto 12th standard. This was confirmed by DCP Law and Order Alam Vijay during a press conference. SP Western Shiv Darshan Singh, Cheharta police station in-charge Inspector Vinod Kumar were present with him.
Giving more information, top police officer Vijay Alam said that the police of Cheharta police station had received information that a former soldier from Guru Ki wadali is involved in the business of selling opium. At present, he is going to supply a large consignment from Madhya Pradesh to some other area. The police team had set up a check post near India Gate. All vehicles were being searched. Then a suspicious car driver was signaled to stop, but he tried to run away, but the alertness of the police team caught him.
On searching the car, more than 2 kg of opium was found inside. On inquiry, it was found that these people were going to supply opium to someone. 50 grams of opium was recovered from another companion. Malvinder Singh and his companion Manjinder Singh were immediately taken into police custody. A case was registered late night against the alleged criminals in Chhaherta police station. Inquiry is going on about whom they were going to supply the opium to. Who all are involved with him, everyone will be caught soon.
