Drugs are a death sentence for the youth. On one hand, the Punjab government is running a campaign against drugs on a war footing, on the other hand, the youth are dying due to drugs. On Tuesday, a youth in Firozpur, Punjab, took the drug injection. He died due to overdose. As soon as he was injected with chitta, he started writhing in pain and within a short time, he stopped breathing. Even after the injection, the syringe kept hanging in his hand.
The incident of the death of the youth due to drug overdose is from Hazara Singh Wala, a border village of Mamdot in Firozpur. The deceased Jaswinder was married and was also the father of a child. His wife and mother are crying bitterly due to his death. The said youth was addicted to drugs for a long time.
Sumitra Rani, mother of deceased Jaswinder Singh, said that her son used to work as a labourer. Many youths in the village are addicted to drugs. Due to friendship with them, her son also started taking drugs. On Tuesday evening, Jaswinder was injecting himself with drugs at home. During this time his health deteriorated and he died. Sumitra Rani says that drugs are being sold openly in the village and the police are not taking any action. Her son was married. He was the father of a four-year-old son.
