A woman’s body wrapped in a blanket has been recovered from under the canal bridge in front of Kalia Colony on Amritsar Highway in Jalandhar. The deceased woman has not been identified. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it to Civil Hospital Jalandhar for postmortem. Initial investigation has revealed that the body is more than three years old, because it was stinking.
The body was first seen by a garbage collector, after which the people around were informed about the matter. SHO Ajaib Singh of Division No. 1 of Commissionerate Police, who arrived for investigation, said – We are investigating the matter thoroughly, further action will be taken in the case after investigation.
According to the information received, there were many wounds on the body of the deceased girl. Initial investigation has revealed that the said body was wrapped in a blanket and thrown into the canal after the murder. The police have taken forensic samples in the case, on the basis of which the case is being investigated.
SHO said- Information was received at night that a dead body of a person was found at the said place. But when the teams reached for investigation, it was found that the body was of a woman. The body was lying right below the bridge. ASI present on flying duty said- Since the woman could not be identified, a forensic team was called to investigate the cause of her death. The actual cause of death will be clear after the postmortem.
