Action has been started by the teams of the district administration regarding the Panchayat elections in Jalandhar, Punjab. Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal has ordered to keep the liquor shops closed on the polling day on October 15.
DC Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said – These orders have been issued under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act 1914 and Section 135 (C) of the Representation of the People Act 1951. The DC further said – Wherever Panchayat elections are to be held in the villages falling within the limits of District Jalandhar, orders have been issued to keep the shops closed on October 15, the day of election.
Liquor shops and premises will not be opened in the villages having elections on the said date. Also, liquor will not be served in hotels, restaurants or clubs located in these villages. If anyone violates the orders issued, immediate action will be taken against him.
