PUNJAB—Major drug smuggling network busted—-2 smugglers arrested with 13 kg heroin.

The Commissionerate Police in Jalandhar, Punjab has busted a major drug smuggling network. Police have arrested 2 smugglers with 13 kg heroin. Three luxury cars have also been recovered from the accused. Apart from this, two illegal pistols and Rs 22,000 drug money have also been recovered from the accused. The accused have been identified as Shivam and Barinder Singh. Investigation is being done about the accused. Police is trying to find out who else is involved with them.

Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur said that on May 20, an accused was arrested near Puli Focal Point Jalandhar. The accused has been identified as Shivam Sodhi alias Shiva son Varinder Sodhi, resident of Lumma Pind Chowk Simran Enclave, from whom 5 kg heroin and Rs 22,000 drug money were recovered. 7 kg heroin and two vehicles were recovered from Shivam after sustained interrogation during police remand. He also revealed the involvement of an accomplice.

Three cases registered against Shivam Sodhi earlier too

Police arrested the second accused Barinder Singh alias Babbu resident Amar Nagar Jalandhar. Police recovered 1 kg heroin, 2 illegal .32 bore weapons, 6 live cartridges and 3 magazines from his possession. Police confirmed that three cases are registered against Shivam Sodhi earlier too, while 4 cases are registered against Barinder Singh. CP Jalandhar emphasized on Jalandhar Police’s zero tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and criminal activities. He said, “There is no place for criminals in Jalandhar.
