On Monday, lawyers started protesting outside SSP Kapurthala office when the President and Vice President of Bar Association reached to meet SSP Kapurthala to present their side in the case of a fellow lawyer. President Rajbir Singh Bawa, Vice President Piyush Manchanda, General Secretary Satinderpal Singh Khinda alleged that SSP Vatsala Gupta misbehaved with them and even asked them to go out. SSP even asked the President to lower his voice and say gulp… while the President was talking to Shaleena. On the other hand, SSP called the allegations baseless.

District Bar Association President Rajveer Singh Baba and Vice President Piyush Manchanda said that a land dispute is going on with one of their fellow lawyers Karambir Singh Chandi. In which there is a stay from the court. Regarding this case, some lawyers went to SSP Vatsala Gupta’s office on Monday afternoon to present their side. At that time people from the other side were also sitting there.

President also told that SSP used foul language with the lawyers in front of the other party and asked them to leave the office. When he politely told them that he is the President of the District Bar Association, SSP even said to lower his voice and shout. Seeing the attitude of SSP towards the lawyers, all the lawyers got angry and started a sit-in protest outside the SSP office. During this, the lawyers also raised slogans of ‘Shame on Police’, ‘Down with Punjab Police’ and ‘Down with SSP Kapurthala’.

Lawyers declared no work day

President Rajbir Singh Bawa told that on Monday afternoon he declared no work day for two days, which will continue on 23rd July as well. A sit-in will be held outside the SSP office on Tuesday as well. During this time hundreds of lawyers including lawyers SS Malli, Kuldeep Bawa, Chandrashekhar Sharma, Nitin Sharma, Vijay Puri, RPS Bawa, Khalar Singh, Manish Luthra, Sandeep Walia, Kuldeep Bawa, Hamir Dhillon, TS Dhillon, Hamish and Vipan Sabbarwal were present.

Meanwhile, SSP Kapurthala Vatsala Gupta said that there is no protest outside her office. Then she said that the lawyer fraternity had come to meet her regarding some matter, but some people were already sitting with her with their own issues. So she asked them to wait for two minutes, but they made it an issue. No lawyer has been misbehaved with. These allegations are completely baseless. Nothing like this has happened. Police and lawyer fraternity are one.
