Punjab’s village Seechewal is presenting an example of mutual brotherhood and unity among the people. The special thing is that there has been no voting for Panchayat elections in this village for the last 21 years. Because the people of the village have been electing the Panchayat unanimously. This time also, for the 5th consecutive time, the people of the village have elected the Panchayat by mutual consent.
Buta Singh has been elected Sarpanch in the Gram Panchayat elections. Buta Singh has also been the Panch of the village once. Similarly, 7 Panchayat members have been elected unanimously. When the matter of making Buta Singh the Sarpanch came up among the people of the village, everyone agreed. Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal honored the newly elected Panchayat members amid cheers.
Earlier, Tejinder Singh Raggi was the Sarpanch. The unanimous Panchayat elections in the village started from the time of Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, when Seechewal was first elected unanimously in 2003. After that he again became the Sarpanch unanimously for the next 5 years. In the year 2013, Rajwant Kaur, a girl educated up to MA from the village, became the Sarpanch unanimously. After her, young leader Tejinder Singh became the Sarpanch. Now the Sarpanch has been handed over to Sardar Buta Singh.
