Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said on Thursday that a senior engineer of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has been arrested for passing secret information to Pakistani handlers. According to the minister, the arrested engineer Deepraj Chandra is a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of sending sensitive information like communication and radar systems to Pakistan.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara said, he was involved in treason. Military intelligence is taking further action. Chandra has shared many important information about communication equipment being made in the country. Deepraj Chandra was working in the research team of BEL. Sources claimed that the leaked information includes details about communication and radar systems, operating frameworks, security protocols and high-ranking officials.
Sources in the case said that Deepraj Chandra leaked secret information in exchange for bitcoins. Deepraj Chandra used to get money from Pakistan in digital currency bitcoin. Contact between him and the Pakistanis was being made through the Internet, they used encrypted platforms like email, WhatsApp and Telegram. Instead of sending direct messages, he used to create a separate email ID and share its login credentials, so as not to get caught.
According to the information, so far important information of India’s defense equipment has been leaked. Which includes security protocols and information about high officials as well as maps of offices and details of production systems.
In this case, the army and intelligence agencies are now investigating the matter in depth. Two more suspects are being searched, who were in contact with Deepraj Chandra. Officials are also investigating who and how much information was sent to Pakistan. This matter is being considered a serious threat to the security of the country and strict action will be taken further.
