WORLD—Guns now silent in Gaza—Hostages released.

SENIOR JOURNALIST.INTERNATIONAL DESK.

Outgoing US President Joe Biden said that under the ceasefire agreement, guns have now fallen silent in Gaza. On the release of the hostages, he said that a phone call just came. It was told that three female hostages of Israel have been released and their health seems to be better.

During a visit to a church in North Charleston, South Carolina, US President Joe Biden said, ‘The deal that I presented to the Middle East in May last year has finally been successful. The ceasefire has had an effect in Gaza and today we are seeing the release of hostages. Three Israeli women were kept in dark tunnels for 400 and 70 days against their will.

Joe Biden further said, four more women will be released in seven days, followed by 3 additional hostages every 7 days, including at least 2 American citizens, who are in this first phase. We pray for them and their families, as they have a long recovery ahead.

By day 16 of the deal, phase two negotiations will begin. This phase includes the release of Israeli soldiers and a permanent end to the war without Hamas regaining power or being able to threaten Israel. As I speak, 100 trucks are entering Gaza. They are carrying aid for civilians who have suffered greatly in the war launched by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which began nearly 15 months ago.’
