On the occasion of the marriage festival of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Punjab government has declared a local holiday in district Gurdaspur. For the 537th marriage festival, the Gurughars in and around Batala are being decorated with colourful lights. The centre point of this festival will be Gurudwara Shri Kandh Sahib located in Batala. Gurudwara Shri Kandh Sahib has been decorated with colourful lights.
On the occasion of Baba’s marriage festival in Batala, migrant shopkeepers have reached the roadsides of Batala. Most of these shopkeepers are of crockery and toys. A large gathering of these migrant shopkeepers is seen on Shastri Nagar and Jalandhar Road of Batala.
1300 police personnel and 100 CCTV cameras will keep an eye on the area.
On this festival, the police will run a special campaign against the people who create ruckus. Some groups have also come forward to stop the ruckus. If we look at the administrative arrangements, Batala has been divided into 8 sectors. To ensure that people do not face any problem in the fair, 5 temporary bus stands have been set up. 1300 Batala police personnel will keep a close watch on every nook and corner of the city. The police have also installed 100 CCTV cameras on the route of Nagar Kirtan.
