Approval has been given for the swearing-in of pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh, who won the Lok Sabha elections from Khadoor Sahib seat in Punjab. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has allowed Amritpal Singh to take oath as MP. Pro-Khalistan and Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh won the election from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat in Punjab as an independent candidate. He is currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Amritpal has not yet taken oath as MP. At the same time, 12 other MPs from Punjab have taken oath as Members of Parliament.
Amritpal Singh won the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat with 4,04,430 votes. Amritpal Singh’s closest rival in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira, who got 2,07,310 votes.
