Innumerable new medical colleges and private hospitals have been built in the seven states around Chandigarh. But even today, when someone falls ill, the first name that comes to the mind to save life is PGI. Being an alumnus of PGI, this is a matter of pride for me. That is why PGI is the light of knowledge. The doctors coming out from here are excellent. A doctor should have dedication and selflessness in serving the patients. These qualities are seen everywhere in PGI. These words were said by Lt. General Daljit Singh, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services, as the chief guest on Tuesday in the 61st Foundation Day celebrations of PGI.

He expressed his views on the theme of medicine and nation and infused energy in the doctors. On this occasion, he gave an emotional description of the recently held Gallantry Awards 2024 and said that facing extreme conditions, from frozen equipment to inaccessible roads, our medical personnel stand firm to the limit to make the supreme sacrifice of their lives, showing compassion in every mission. Therefore, we should strive for the upliftment of our motherland. He told the doctors that the legacy of the founders of PGI should be respected.

Choose your own path in life

Daljit Singh said that it is very important to have the passion to choose your own path in life instead of following the path of others. The feeling of being connected to the nation is important. He praised the Armed Forces Medical Services and said that our doctors trained in specific fields through rigorous military programs bring expertise and dedication to each patient. Ensuring the highest standards of care. Our teams are ready with unwavering resolve in both times of peace and crisis. They are rapidly deployed to help those affected by militancy or natural disasters.

Head bows in front of the trust of patients

PGI Director Prof. Vivek Lal praised the Armed Forces Medical Services and said that it is a matter of good fortune that the chief guest made everyone aware of the hidden face of the army. He said that after hearing about the sacrifices of army doctors, my head really bowed in respect. He said that it is a matter of pride for us that an alumnus of PGI came as the chief guest on the occasion of Foundation Day in army uniform. Because he has army uniform on his body and PGI in his heart. As far as the pressure of patients is concerned, our head bows before the patients. We bow before the faith of the patients. By the end of September, the Neuroscience Center will be dedicated to the public. On this occasion, thirty employees of the institute were honored for their excellent service.
