A case of extortion by calling from foreign numbers has come to light in Punjab. A commission agent of Jalandhar’s subdivision Phillaur was threatened and asked for a ransom of Rs 25 lakh by calling in the name of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

The person threatening said that if the money is not given then a bullet is ready in your name. After which the businessman has complained about the matter to Phillaur Police and DSP Phillaur Swarnjit Singh of Jalandhar Rural Police.

Commission agent Sachin Agarwal told the police that he has a commercial computer way-bridge in Ludhiana, an ice factory in Saifabad and a commission agent shop in the grain market of Phillaur. He had gone to see the work at the ice factory in village Saifabad on July 21. At around 4 pm, he received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number, in which the voice was not clear due to network problem. Earlier he had received calls three times but for some reason he could not pick up. But when the phone rang for the fourth time at 4:11, he picked up the phone.


The caller said – Sachin Agarwal, Lawrence Bishnoi has sent a message for you to keep 25 lakh rupees ready. We have been doing your recce for six months. All we know about you is that you have an ice factory and a fork on the highway. You don’t need to be too smart, the bullet is ready for you, when 25 lakh rupees are ready, call on this number and say Ram-Ram and disconnect the phone. Sachin said that the way the person threatening him on the phone was talking, he knew about his entire business.

After this, the commission agent demanded protection from the police and has appealed to arrest the accused soon. Inspector Sukhdev Singh, in-charge of Phillaur police station, said that investigation has been started in the case on the basis of the complaint. Soon the accused will be traced and arrested.
