President Draupadi Murmu left on Sunday for a six-day visit to Fiji, New Zealand and Timor-Leste. Murmu will be on a visit there from 5-7 August at the invitation of Fiji President William Mwalili Katonivere.
Murmu will hold bilateral meetings with Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka in Fiji. She is also scheduled to address the Fiji Parliament and interact with its members, many of whom are of Indian origin.
Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote on social media, this will be the first visit of an Indian head of state to Fiji and Timor-Leste. Officials said, Murmu will be on a state visit to New Zealand on 8 and 9 August at the invitation of the island country’s Governor General Cindy Kiro. This will be the first New Zealand visit of an Indian President after eight years.
