The Punjab government can conduct panchayat elections in the month of October. After dissolving the panchayats, now the panchayat committees have also been dissolved. After which the District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) will look after the functioning of the panchayats till the elections are held.
Let us tell you that 13,000 gram panchayats have already been dissolved in Punjab. Out of the remaining 153, 76 panchayat committees have been dissolved by the government. A notification has also been issued by the Punjab government in this regard.
