The current centre of power in Punjab is Sangrur parliamentary constituency. Starting from the Chief Minister, three ministers are from this area. After becoming an MP, the vacant ministerial post of Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has been filled by appointing MLA from Lehragaga, Barinder Goyal (Advocate).
From the corridors of power to everyone’s lips, there is only one discussion in pure Punjabi that ‘Sangrur wich ta fer jhandi waaliyan karan di jhadi lag gayi aye’. There is a discussion in the political corridors that half the government is from Sangrur. The discussion is going even further that if the top leadership of ‘AAP’ arranges for a deputy CM, then that face will also be from Sangrur. These days this discussion is making a lot of headlines. Political experts believe that this discussion cannot be ignored, because smoke rises from where the spark burns.
The talk of appointing a deputy CM has gone too far. Many experts believe that by doing this, the top leadership of AAP wants to strengthen its hold on the power of Punjab. Also, it is being linked to the strategy of balancing the caste equation. This discussion has been suppressed for the time being amid the change in the cabinet.
Anyway, AAP is completely in control of the Sangrur parliamentary constituency. AAP’s flag is flying high from Lok Sabha to assembly seats, but the results of the by-elections on 4 assembly seats including Barnala will make it clear who will be in what position in the future political chessboard.
Once again, there are three ministers from Sangrur parliamentary constituency. After Harpal Singh Cheema and Aman Arora, now Barinder Goyal has joined the Punjab cabinet. The Agrawal community seems very happy with Goyal being made a minister. A big leader from Delhi, who is considered the second leader after Kejriwal, is believed to be behind Goyal’s rise to the post of minister.
