Both Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiromani Akali Dal have suffered losses this time due to lack of alliance in Punjab. Both contested Lok Sabha elections alone on all 13 seats. This benefited BJP in increasing vote share, but it did not get any seat in the election. Compared to the 2019 election, this time BJP’s vote share has increased by 8.93% to 18.56%. Last time the party had won two seats with 9.63% vote share. Similarly, if we talk about SAD, then this time its vote share has fallen to 13.42% compared to 27.45% vote share in 2019. Also, instead of two seats, this time the party has been able to save only one seat of Bathinda.

Ludhiana
Ludhiana remained the hottest seat in the election, because Ravneet Singh Bittu left Congress and contested from BJP here. Bittu lost to Congress candidate Amarinder Singh Raja Vading by 20,942 votes. SAD’s Ranjit Singh Dhillon also managed to get 90,073 votes here. Similarly, the BJP candidate suffered losses due to SAD contesting separately. If both were in the fray together, they could have made a big difference in the results.

Patiala
Similar results were seen on the Patiala seat as well. Captain Amarinder Singh’s wife BJP candidate Preneet Kaur did come third, but she lost this seat by a very small margin. Congress’ Dharamvir Gandhi won this seat with 3,05,616 votes, while Preneet Kaur came third with 2,88,998 votes. She lost by 16,618 votes. SAD candidate NK Sharma also got 1,53,978 votes on this seat.

Ferozepur
Similarly, this time BJP has given a tough fight to the opponents on the Ferozepur seat, which is considered to be the stronghold of SAD. Here Sher Singh Ghubaya from Congress has won by getting 2,66,626 votes. BJP candidate Gurmeet Singh Sodhi came third by getting 2,55,097 votes, but he gave a tough fight in the election. This is the reason why he had to face defeat with 11,529 less votes. SAD also gave a full fight on this seat. SAD candidate Nardev Singh Bobby Mann came fourth by getting 2,52,327 votes.

Close fight in Amritsar and Gurdaspur too, but lost
Similarly, BJP has given a fight on Amritsar and Gurdaspur seats too. In Gurdaspur, BJP candidate Sunny Deol, who entered politics from acting while being in alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, won by a margin of 82,459 votes. This time BJP made local leader Dinesh Singh Babbu its candidate, but he lost to Congress candidate Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa by 82,861 votes. Here SAD candidate Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema got 85,194 votes. If we talk about Amritsar seat, then BJP candidate Taranjit Singh Sandhu came third by getting 2,07,205 votes, while Congress’s Gurjeet Singh Aujla won the election by getting 2,55,181 votes. If we talk about SAD candidate, he was successful in getting 1,62,686 votes here.
