Kuldeep Chahal reached the CBI headquarters in Chandigarh Sector 30 at 11 am on Friday and was questioned till 2 pm. The officer said that 2009 batch Punjab cadre IPS Kuldeep Chahal was on deputation to Chandigarh and was sent back to his parent cadre Punjab in December last year, 10 months before the end of his three-year tenure.
CM had expressed surprise
In a letter to the Governor, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had expressed surprise over Chahal’s premature return to Punjab and the handing over of the Haryana-cadre IPS officer to the Union Territory of Chandigarh, saying it would upset the balance of states’ functioning.
