Tracing 600 missing mobile phones worth Rs 1.2 crore in the last 3 months, then finding their rightful owners and handing them over is not an easy task. Yet, it has been made possible by the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) team of Amritsar district’s rural police. By the way, this campaign was named ‘Ghum Hua Ab Ghum Nahi Rehti’. Under the guidance and inspiration of Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Qasim Mir, keeping the convenience of the public in mind, Amritsar rural police started a unique campaign about three months ago to trace lost mobile phones and return them to their rightful owners. The campaign has been named “Amritsar Rural Police says – Lost, no more lost”.

a team called Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) was formed under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (Investigation) and Nodal Officer (CEIR) Aditya Warrier. In the last two months, this team has worked tirelessly and recovered 300 lost mobile phones (including 13 expensive iPhone) from Punjab and other states of the country, whose market value is approximately Rs 60 lakh.
Recovery figure crosses Rs 1 crore Today,
by organizing a special seminar, the SSP of Amritsar Rural handed over these mobile phones to their rightful owners. With this, Amritsar Rural Police has succeeded in tracing and handing over a total of 600 lost mobile phones worth approximately Rs 1 crore 20 lakh to their rightful owners in the last three months. The SSP said that this effort of the Amritsar Rural Police will continue in this manner and the police will always strive to bring smiles back to people’s faces.
Head Constable Jitendra Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Bhuvan Sharma, and Constable Mandeep Singh, posted on the CEIR team, are tirelessly performing their duties day and night with dedication, devotion, and honesty. This team is currently receiving widespread attention throughout Punjab for their work.
According to department sources, they may soon be honored for their good work. Only the announcement is pending. The team appealed to the public through the media that if anyone loses their mobile phone in the future, they should not panic but should immediately file a missing person report at their nearest Sanjha Kendra or police station.
