Almost half of the monsoon season has passed. Despite this, Punjab has recorded about 35 percent less rain than normal so far. A heavy rain alert has been issued in the state for the next few days. At the same time, it rained in some districts of Punjab on Monday. There has been heavy rain in Ludhiana city in the morning, which has given some relief to the people from heat and humidity. Drivers also faced a lot of trouble due to water accumulation on the roads.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will change in Punjab including Chandigarh from tonight. Heavy to heavy rain is expected in most parts of the state from Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two to three days. There is a possibility of rain in Chandigarh today. However, light clouds have been seen in the sky since morning. There is a game of hide and seek between the sun and the clouds.

Effect on Bhakra water level due to less rain
The effect of less rain is also being seen on the water level of Bhakra Dam. At present, the water level of the dam is 1630 feet, whereas last year there was good rainfall in the monsoon and the water level rose to 1660 feet. The water level of 1680 feet in the dam is considered a danger mark, but the way it is raining, it does not seem that the water level can increase much this time. Due to this, the concern of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Union Territory Chandigarh and Delhi has also increased, because water is supplied to these states from this dam. If the situation remains the same, then there may be a shortage of water and electricity in these states in the next summer. On Sunday, the water level of Pong Dam was recorded at 1355 feet. A significant decrease has also been recorded in this.
Yellow alert in Himachal too
According to the Meteorological Center Shimla, light to moderate rain occurred in many areas of Himachal in the last 24 hours. At the same time, there is a yellow alert of rain in Himachal for the next two days. On Sunday, Khadrala in Shimla district was the rainiest place with 26.6 mm of rain, while Ghamarur in Kangra district recorded 24.0 mm of rain. Apart from this, Kasauli, Shimla, Kufri, Nahan, Narkanda, Bangana, Mandi, Dharampur, Pachhad, Shimla, Bajaura, Nagarota Surian, Jogindernagar, Chamba, Dharamshala, Hamirpur and Barthin also received rain. It is worth noting that on last Saturday, roads were damaged due to cloudburst in Himachal. About 135 routes were affected and people were stranded at many places.
