As part of the action being taken against drug and weapon smugglers, Amritsar District Rural Police has arrested 4 accused during a joint operation with BSF. The names of these accused are Lakhwinder Singh and Harpreet Singh resident of Dande, Amritsar, Akashdeep Singh and Gurpreet Singh resident of Kasel, Tarn Taran. Police have recovered eight pistols (5 pistols .30 caliber and 3 pistols 9 mm caliber) and magazines from these accused.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said that information was received that a consignment of weapons has been sent across the border by Pakistani smugglers. After this, the police team conducted a joint operation with BSF. The consignment of weapons was received from the said accused. The accused were going to deliver it to gangsters in different districts of the state. But before this, the accused were caught by setting a trap and weapons were recovered from them.
Initial investigation has revealed that all four accused are notorious criminals and have been involved in arms and drug smuggling for a long time. At present, a case has been registered against all of them in Gharinda police station and investigation is being done. So that more of their associates can be arrested and it can also be known for whom these four smugglers are working.
